I’ve come to understand that life is not always easy. In fact, at times, it can be incredibly challenging. However, I have found comfort in the fact that God is always with me, and He is faithful to see me through every struggle.

In 2020, the Lord impressed my heart to study His faithfulness. I’ve grown up in the church, and have heard stories of this characteristic my whole life, but I had never truly studied His faithfulness before. Later that year, all of our worlds completely changed, and various trials entered my life. It was clear to me during this time why the Holy Spirit had urged me a few months prior to knowing the faithfulness of God like never before.

In Hebrews, it says, "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful." (Hebrews 10:23). This scripture, among many others (like the story of the woman with the issue of blood (Luke 8:43-48) and the book of Ruth) has become a mantra for me during difficult times. They remind me that no matter what I am going through, God is with me and will never leave me. His faithfulness is unwavering, and I can always trust in Him - it’s His promise.

The Bible is full of stories of how God has delivered His people time and time again. We can take comfort in knowing that the same God who parted the Red Sea and fed the five thousand is the same God who is with us today. As I’ve studied His faithfulness, I’ve seen not only how He has been faithful to many throughout history, but I’ve been reminded of the times He’s been faithful to me. Like when he introduced me to my husband, or when I was led to move states leaving what I thought was God's best for me behind, and like when a close family member was given a doctor's report of a less than 1% chance at survival. Time and time again, despite the difficulties I’ve faced, He has been faithful - it’s just who He is.

While I’m sure many of us wouldn’t choose to go through challenging times, we can find joy in our struggle. When we trust in God's faithfulness, despite our situation, we can have peace and joy even in the midst of difficult circumstances. James says, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness." (James 1:2-3). When we go through struggles, we can use them as an opportunity to grow in our faith and become stronger in our relationship with God, which is beautiful.

All of this to say, as people of faith, we can take great comfort in knowing that God is faithful. We can trust in Him during every struggle, knowing that He is with us and will never leave us. My challenge to you is to study and know His character. Whether your life is going perfectly or you’re in the middle of a struggle, it’s comforting to see how faithful He has been throughout history, and we can have confidence that He will continue to be faithful in our lives today.
